Nushagak Mulchatna Watershed Council
The Nushagak Mulchatna Watershed Council (NMWC) was organized in November 1998 to provide the local leadership and to serve as a forum for implementing solutions to common natural resource problems and opportunities in the Nushagak Mulchatna watershed.
Membership on the Council reflects the importance of having landowners, tribes and local governments set the direction and scope of the watershed planning effort. Membership also recognizes the need for participation by the resource agencies with land management authority for much of the watershed.
The NMWC functions as an advisory body in the sense that it does not have direct regulatory authority to implement solutions or prevention methods on the land. The composition of the Council does however include those entities that do have the authority or ability to implement decisions and actions recommended by the Council. Other organizations may also become members of the NMWC upon written request to and approval by the Council.
